In 2022, a “premium membership” scheme was proposed that would have charged IDR 3.75 million — roughly USD 250 — per visitor for access to Komodo Island and Padar. It generated substantial protest and strike action from local operators, and it was reported as cancelled and never implemented. The park reverted to standard PNBP daily tickets.
Yet the figure still circulates in blog posts and forum threads three years later, usually with no date attached. If someone quotes you millions of rupiah for a park ticket, they are working from stale 2022 headlines — or they are marking up your invoice.
Is there a daily visitor quota?
Not one we can confirm. A daily visitor cap for Komodo National Park in 2026–2027 is discussed in some travel guides, with a figure around 1,000 visitors per day mentioned, but this is not corroborated by park authority publications in the sources we reviewed.
